Vaso di Petalo - An aesthetics project on Alessi
Prompted to create an object of love that would fit into the canon of Alessi, I created this vase on the abstraction of flower petals being plucked.
During this project it was vital to keep in mind the major design qualities of Alessi we had identified in class: playfulness, movement, volume from flat surfaces, and brushed steel.

Prototyping
After trying irregularly shaped pieces as well as rectangular shaped pieces at varying base intervals, I settled on a heptagon as the base and utilized triangles formed from the previous 2 in. by 3 in. rectangles I was using before.

Final Prototype
This finalized form took shape out of wood although the final concept is of brushed steel.

Poster
This is the poster that I ultimately created for the vase. The design is based off of the traditional product poster design I found when doing research on Alessi.
